Educational and career journey
My career in commercial aviation spans over 30 years, driven by a strong focus on airline revenue management, pricing strategy, and commercial optimisation. Throughout this journey, I have worked extensively across the core functions of revenue management, including pricing, demand forecasting, inventory control, and network optimisation, contributing to improved revenue performance and operational efficiency in complex airline environments.
I have had the opportunity to work across diverse geographical regions, including the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, which has provided me with a broad perspective on varying market dynamics, customer behaviour, and operational challenges. This international exposure has strengthened my ability to adapt revenue management strategies to different markets, business environments, and customer needs.
Across my career, I have consistently focused on bridging the gap between revenue management theory and practical execution. My work has involved not only improving pricing and inventory strategies, but also strengthening decision making processes, aligning commercial functions, and enhancing overall revenue quality.
This perspective also shaped my decision to pursue doctoral research, focusing on a recurring challenge in the aviation industry as to why significant investments in technology and innovation do not always translate into improved commercial outcomes. My research explored the reverse engineering of technological innovation in commercial aviation, with particular emphasis on customer experience and operational efficiency.
PAIU's contribution to my personal or professional development.
My studies at Paris American International University (PAIU) played a significant role in shaping my research and professional perspective. The doctoral programme provided the academic structure, research discipline, and analytical depth required to examine complex industry challenges in a systematic and evidence based manner.
As part of my doctoral research, I developed the 4Ts Framework i.e. Transformation, Technology, Tools, and Talent. This framework is an original contribution derived from my research, designed to identify and address the key factors that influence the success or failure of innovation initiatives in commercial aviation.
Through a reverse engineering approach, my research examined why many airline transformation programmes particularly those involving revenue management systems, digital platforms, and customer experience initiatives fail to deliver expected results. The findings highlighted that success is not driven by technology alone, but by the alignment of the four critical elements represented by the 4Ts.
The knowledge and insights gained during my time at PAIU enabled me to successfully complete my doctoral research and further strengthened my ability to apply research driven thinking to real world airline challenges. This has enhanced my capability to contribute not only at an operational level within revenue management but also at a broader strategic and transformation level within the aviation industry.
My research continues to shape my professional work, particularly in the areas of airline retailing, digital transformation, and revenue optimisation, where aligning strategy, systems, and people remains critical to achieving sustainable results.
